Joshua Jahad Russaw has one credit on a Grammy winning album

Joshua Russaw produced a song called “PSST!” on Bloom, the Durand Bernarr album that won best progressive R&B album at the Grammys on February 1, 2026. Russaw, 28, works under the name Jahad and appears in credits as Josh Jahad. He is the son of Faith Evans and the record executive Todd Russaw.

Bloom had been out since February 18, 2025, almost a year before the award. Russaw told the Los Angeles interview site Voyage LA in July 2025 that the song was his first placement as a producer.

The credit and the award rules

Going through the album’s song credits on Spotify one track at a time, his name comes up once. On “PSST!” he is the producer, the only one listed, and one of six writers. The other 14 songs do not carry his name.

Bernarr is a Cleveland singer who has built his career as an independent artist. He went into the ceremony with three nominations and won the one for the album, the first Grammy of his career.

Russaw posted on Instagram two days later, thanking Bernarr and the team. The caption opened with three words: “A Boyhood Dream.”

The Recording Academy gives statuettes in the genre album categories to the artist, and to producers and engineers credited on more than half of an album’s playing time. A producer credited below that line can apply for a winners certificate. One song out of 15 puts Russaw below it. His Instagram bio describes him as a beatmaker and arranger and lists him as the DJ for Ryder’s Room. It also carries the line “grammy winner.”

Where he learned the job

Todd Russaw managed Faith Evans and was an executive producer on her 2005 album The First Lady. He also raised her son C.J. Wallace, whose father was The Notorious B.I.G., and in 2019 he and C.J. started the cannabis company Think BIG together.

Evans has said her children grew up around the recording studio, calling them “very artsy” in a 2012 interview. Her third child was born on June 10, 1998, the day she turned 25, and she calls him her twin because of the shared birthday.

Evans has four children, and the mix of surnames is where most of the confusion starts.

The group that never released an album

In May 2017, C.J. Wallace told London’s Evening Standard that he and his younger brother, Joshua Jahad Russaw, had spent months in the studio as a duo called CJ and Jahad, with an album due later that year. Wallace was 20, and said his move into music felt inevitable. The interview ran in outlets including Complex and Vibe. People later described the brothers forming a group, Non-Fixtion, with their friend Lotus Ley. Nothing came out under either name.

For years afterward, the only music of his own anywhere public was a DJ mix he uploaded to SoundCloud in 2019.

Voyage LA asked him in July 2025 whether the road had been smooth. He said it had been a process. “Staying authentic is one of the big struggles in this day and age,” he said. He put the family question on the table himself, describing the work of being “somebody’s son” as finding your own lane, and said he was taking the road “where you have to earn your stripes.” The same interview listed his DJ rate at $150 an hour.

He said what was coming next: an EP called Daydreamers by the end of 2025, more DJ work on his mother’s tours, and more time with Ryder’s Room, the foundation Evans set up with her former husband Stevie J for her youngest son, who is on the autism spectrum. The EP has not been released.

This year

Evans grew up in Newark, and on June 13 the city dedicated a stretch of it to her. Russaw was photographed at the block party with C.J. Wallace. The date fell three days after his 28th birthday, the one he shares with his mother, who posted a message to him that week calling him her birthday twin and telling him to keep living his dreams.

In September he posted from the DJ booth at Sei Less in Manhattan during New York Fashion Week, thanking the restaurant and the hosts of the party.
