About Us

Up Front Journal came out of Washington in May 2026, built by a journalist who spent five years working local newsrooms and came away with a specific frustration: general news publishing had become a race to the bottom. Wide coverage, thin reporting, and a quiet assumption that readers either would not notice or did not care.

Roy M. Crawford noticed. And he cared enough to build something different.

Crawford grew up and worked in the Washington area, covering local news in one of the most news-saturated cities in the country. Washington does not forgive lazy journalism. The city has too many sharp readers, too many people who were actually in the room when the story happened, too many professionals who know immediately when something has been half-reported. That environment shaped how Crawford approaches a story — what gets verified, what gets cut, and what gets published under his name. It is the same standard Up Front Journal holds across every beat it covers.

The publication covers national and political affairs, sports journalism, entertainment and celebrity reporting, technology, world news, automotive, gaming, and the cultural stories moving fastest across American life. It covers all of it because Crawford’s background covers all of it. Five years across local publishing does not produce a specialist. It produces a journalist who knows how to report whatever lands on the desk that day, and report it to a standard that holds up.

Up Front Journal runs on that principle. Sports coverage gets the same sourcing rigour as political reporting. Entertainment and celebrity stories get the same editorial process as international news. That is not a policy written into a handbook — it is how Crawford built his career, and it is how this publication operates.

Behind Crawford is a team of editors and researchers working across every section of the site. Roy M. Crawford leads as founder and Editor-in-Chief, and his byline runs regularly across the publication’s coverage. Every piece that goes live here has gone through that editorial process first.

Corrections are published openly. Sources are verified before they are named. When a story is updated, we say so and we say why. Readers who find an error in our reporting can reach us directly, and we take every one of those seriously.

Up Front Journal is independent. No parent company, no ownership group, and no advertiser determines what gets covered or how it gets reported. Crawford built it that way from the start.
